Muir Trust Artist in Residence

The Muir Trust Artist in Residence 2022

The Muir Trust is working in collaboration with Discover Bucks Museum to find an artist to create artworks that resonate with visitors.
by Mel Czapski

Our collaboration is inviting applications from mid-career, UK-based visual artists. We are looking for an established artist-printmaker to create artworks based on the theme of “Printing the Museum”.  You can choose your preferred print media.

The artist’s goal is to create new artworks inspired by the museum and its collections. The artwork will resonate with our visitors from Buckinghamshire and beyond.

The Residency

The residency is scheduled to run alongside the museum’s main exhibition Picasso and the Masters of Print. This exhibition is on loan from The Higgins, Bedford.

The artist in residence will be based in Aylesbury for 20 days during April / May 2022. It is then our intention to exhibit the finished artworks in the museum in June 2022.

Throughout the residency, the artist will have a dedicated studio space to work in. Of course, this is based in the museum.

In addition, during the residency the artist will:

(a) be at work in an open studio where visitors can enter, observe and ask questions;

(b) run a workshop for adults;

(c) run a session for 6th form art students;

(d) give a public talk.

Benefits

We will award £3,000, plus an allowance for subsistence/travel expenses.

Deadline: Your applications must be received by noon, 30 November 2021.

Finally, we will invite shortlisted applicants for an interview on 6 January 2022.
